Advanced research on plant lipids : proceedings of the 15th International Symposium on Plant Lipids by N Murata ( )
1 edition published in 2003 in English and held by 19 WorldCat member libraries worldwide
The International Symposia on Plant Lipids, the 15th of which was held in Okazaki, Japan, in May 12-17, 2002, is held every two years and is the only international meeting in this field. The almost 100 contributions from the symposium collected in this book represent the most up-to-date research results on plant lipids, including their structure, analysis, biosynthesis, regulation, physiological function, environmental aspects, and biotechnology, obtained world-wide during the last two years

Fabrication of Periodically Reversed Domain Structure for Second-Harmonic-Generation in LiNbO3 by Applying Voltage ( Book )
1 edition published in 1992 in English and held by 1 WorldCat member library worldwide
Recently there has been much interest in quasi-phase-matched(QPM)second harmonic generation (SHG) to obtain coherent blue light in LiNbO3 waveguide. Several techniques for the domain reversal of LiNbO3 have been proposed. By using these techniques, the domain shape is triangle and the domain region has the change in refractive index. This shape is not enough for making a fine and deep periodical domain structure of the QPM-SHG, so the conversion efficiency can not become so high. We had reported that we could succeed to reverse the domain of LiNbO3 by the electron beam bombardment . We have been investigating the mechanism of the domain reversal. We do not know clearly about the mechanism, but we know the charge on the positive c surface of the LiNbO3 substrate is important for the domain reversal. So we conjectured that the domain reversal was caused by the electric field from the charge on the surface
Theoretical analysis of driven magnetic reconnection experiments by Dmitri A Uzdensky ( Book )
1 edition published in 1995 in English and held by 1 WorldCat member library worldwide
In this paper we develop a theoretical framework for the Magnetic Reconnection Experiment (MRX) in order to understand the basic physics of the experiment, including the effect of the external driving force, and the difference between co and counterhelicity cases of the experiment. In order to simplify the problem we reduce it to a 1-D MHD model. Also, we define a special class of holonomic boundary conditions under which a unique sequence of global equilibria can be obtained, independent of the rate of reconnection. This enables us to break the whole problem into two parts: a global problem for the ideal region, and a local problem for the resistive reconnection layer. We carry out holonomic constraints, the so called "constant force" regime, for both the co and counterhelicity cases. After the sequence of equilibria in the ideal region is found, we tackle the problem of the rate of reconnection region. This rate tells us how fast we proceed through the sequence of global equilibria but does not affect the sequence itself. Assuming the Sweet-Parker model for the reconnection layer, we calculate the reconnection rate, and demonstrate the difference between the co and counterhelicity cases, as well as the role of the external forces. We find our results to be in a reasonable agreement with the experiment

Variations in fruit Ripening Time, Fruit Weight and Soluble Solids Content of Oriental Persimmon Cultivars Native to Japan by M Yamada ( )
1 edition published in 1994 in Spanish and held by 1 WorldCat member library worldwide
One hundred and eighty-eight cultivars of oriental persimmon (Diospyros RARI Thunb) native to Japan were evaluated for fruit ripening time (FRT), fruit weight (FW), and soluble solids content (SSC). A high heritability for each of these traits was conserved in this population; the overall mean and SD of FRT, FW and SSC were early to mid-November and 15 days. 200 g and 72 g , and 17.0% and 1.0%, respectively. Subgroups of PCA (pollination constant-astringent) and PVNA (pollination variant-nanastringent) showed wide variations for each trait. As to mean values, the PVNA group had slightly earlier FRT and higher SSC than the PCA group but their FW were similar
