Chiefly letters from Moses E. Clapp, Isaac Stephenson, E. A. Morse, and other congressmen to Campbell, U.S. Indian agent at La Pointe, Wisconsin, concerning charges of misconduct against him and Clapp's support of him (1911-1912). Campbell's accounts were audited and he resigned his post. Other letters concern the Vermillion Lake Indian boarding school (4 items, 1898), miscellaneous La Pointe agency affairs, and the U.S. Office of Indian Affairs.

Correspondence, clippings, financial papers, and other items relating to Day, a Fairmont (Martin County, Minn.) newspaper editor who served in the Minnesota legislature (1878, 1887-1895, 1926-1928), as lieutenant governor (1895-1897), as private secretary to Governor John A. Johnson (1905-1909), and as a member of the board of visitors of the State Board of Control (1923-1926). Most of the papers consist of letters from other journalists and politicians, concentrated in the years 1894-1897, 1915-1916, and 1923-1927.

He was an unsuccessful candidate for the U.S. Senate (1923) and became vice-president (1926-?) of the W.A. Alexander Insurance Company, Chicago.
