Gewürdigt wurde in den Kritiken dieser Neuinszenierung vom März 2001 aber auch das Bestreben von Regisseur Grischa Asagaroff, platten Klamauk zu vermeiden und verstärkt die seelischen Befindlichkeiten der Figuren herauszuarbeiten. Als bemerkenswert stimmige Grundlage hierfür erwies sich der Kunstgriff, die Handlung ins Spanien des frühen 20. Jahrhunderts zu verlegen - das Werk wurde so der sonst so vordergründigen Rokoko-Putzigkeit entrissen, wahrte jedoch sein mediterranes Flair und den Charme dezenter Patina. Vesselina Kasarova ist dabei der unbestrittene Star dieser Inszenierung und brilliert als Rosina, die zu ihren Paraderollen zählt. (Quelle: cede.ch)
