Entrepreneurship in the global firm by Julian M Birkinshaw( )
18 editions published between 2000 and 2001 in English and held by 1,224 WorldCat member libraries worldwide
"Based on fresh case evidence, the findings presented in Entrepreneurship in the Global Firm will have an impact on some of the key debates on the transfer of knowledge in firms, the resource-based view and the network forms of organization." "The author concentrates on the initiatives of subsidiary managers and then broadens out into an analysis of how subsidiary companies evolve over time, and how they are able to drive changes in the global firm as a whole. By taking the perspective of the subsidiary manager operating in a network, Birkinshaw extends the implications of his findings to all managers in organizations and challenges those who still view organizations as hierarchies." "The data and arguments presented here offer essential material to advanced undergraduate, MBA and postgraduate students of organizational forms, corporate strategy and the multinational enterprise."--Jacket

10 editions published between 2002 and 2004 in English and held by 523 WorldCat member libraries worldwide
Leadership the Sven-Göran Eriksson Way examines the leadership style of the Egnland football manager Sven-Göran Eriksson. Our argument is that Eriksson's aproach is important because it brilliantly exemplifies a new leaderhip which defies conventional and historical stereotypes of how leaders think and behave. Eriksson is not a tub-thumping bellower of orders. He is no dictator. Instead he is a modern leadership archetype, a leader we can all learn from. From Leadership the Sven-Göran Eriksson Way
The flexible firm : capability management in network organizations ( Book )
21 editions published between 2000 and 2010 in English and held by 391 WorldCat member libraries worldwide
"This book provides a detailed account of the network-like organizational forms that some firms are adopting to make themselves more flexible and responsive to changing technologies and customer demands. As these organizations become more pervasive, the winners will be those firms that develop the specific capabilities that are needed to thrive in a networked world. Paradoxically, such capabilities are developed not only at the firm level, but also in the relationships the firm has with its external network and in the operating units within the firm. This perspective has implications for the 'resource-based view of the firm' in the field of strategic management, suggesting that the development of capabilities is a more complex and multi-level process than was traditionally thought." "The book will be essential reading for advanced students in strategy and international business wanting to keep abreast of current thinking and company practices."--Jacket

The economic crisis was not just caused by a failure of regulation or economic policy; it was a story of the failure of management in a fundamental sense-a deeply flawed approach to management that encouraged bankers to pursue opportunities without regard for their long-term consequences, and to put their own interests ahead of those of their employers and their shareholders. The revised edition of this best-selling book shows convincingly that many of today's major economic problems in the west can be traced to a failure of management. In this updated edition the author draws our attention to

Entrepreneurship safari a phenomenon-driven search for meaning by Héctor O Rocha( )
7 editions published in 2007 in English and held by 36 WorldCat member libraries worldwide
We propose a model that links seven different conceptions of entrepreneurship and maps them in relation to eight associated disciplines and theories, specifying their corresponding units and levels of analysis and stage in the entrepreneurial process. Entrepreneurship scholars are attempting to either carve out a distinctive domain for the field or build a distinctive theory of entrepreneurship. However, an obstacle for understanding entrepreneurship is the lack of integration of the assumptions implicit in different conceptualizations of entrepreneurship. We contribute a scholarship of integration approach for understanding the phenomena underlying these conceptualizations and linking entrepreneurship domain, theory, method, and policymaking
