The Catherine wheel by Twyla Tharp Dance Foundation( Visual )

3 editions published between 1982 and 2005 in English and held by 286 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

When Twyla Tharp's The Catherine Wheel premiered on Broadway, it was described by Arlene Croce--dance critic for The New Yorker magazine--as "A major event in our theater," with "dancing of astonishing beauty and power." It was then completely refashioned by Tharp especially for television, with computer-generated figures, shadow-play, and reverse action - creating a wholly separate video version that has also met with overwhelming praise. The work is set to an original score written and performed by David Byrne of Talking Heads, and grew out of Tharp's fascination with Saint Catherine, the 4th-century martyr who was condemned to die on a spiked wheel

Highlights a new work entitled Country dances, featuring Twyla Tharp, Tom Rawe, Jennifer Way, Shelley Washington, and Christine Uchida. In this work, which was choreographed especially for television, the camera is treated as a collaborative partner rather than as a simple observer. Also shows Twyla Tharp and Mikhail Baryshnikov rehearsing a work entitled Once more Frank
