Payne indicates that he took the liberty of giving Charles Kemble a letter of introduction to Brevoort and of soliciting Brevoort's "kind offices in his favour" through Mr. Irving. The letter opens with a line from Richard III: "From Tamworth thither is but one day's march." Integral address leaf addressed to Henry Brevoort, Esqr. care Ogden, Richards & Selden, Liverpool.

Brief author and title information on each page is followed by columns labelled "F" (folio), "Q" (quarto), "O" (octavo), "D" (duodecimo), into which number of volumes in each title are entered under appropriate format; and by an unlabeled column into which price paid is entered (probably in dollars and cents). Number of volumes per format and running total of price paid is tabulated at bottom of each page, with grand totals on final page: 20 folios, 145 quartos, 1,157 octavos, and 1,147 duodecimos (i.e., 2,469 volumes); and total paid for collection calculated at 3,629 (dollars?).
