Contains correspondence, documents, records and ephemera, mostly related to the ownership and operation of the Howell farm (now the Bybee-Howell House restoration), including deeds, leases, contracts, receipts (mostly from Portland businesses), and a copy of the original donation land claim of James F. Bybee. Also included are two account books, land survey, and miscellaneous notebooks of Benjamin Howell, father of Thomas Jefferson and Joseph Howell; a book of animal sketches found on the Howell property in 1922; and copies letters from Thomas Howell to Edward Lee Greene regarding botanical observations, 1890-1902
