Abandoned by their mother and disowned by their alcoholic father, Martin, the older brother, and Simon, the younger brother, live a wild life in their working-class, coastal town in France. They survive by stealing food and money. They are forcibly separated by the authorities and sent to different reform schools, but they escape and reunite. Martin is fascinated with fish and wishes he were the son of a female shark. They break into a movie theater and watch a film on fish. They go on a shoplifting and vandalizing rampage. Martin, fancies Marie, a girl he knew at school, but he has no idea how to approach her in a non-violent way. Simon kidnaps her and brings her to his brother. Martin insists on letting her go and in a fight, Simon stabs Martin in the leg. On the docks, they watch as the heads of fishes are cut off

Ein Kapitel ihres Lebens, und zwar die leidenschaftliche Liebesgeschichte zwischen der angehenden Künstlerin und ihrem erfahrenen Lehrmeister Agostino, schildert die französische Regisseurin Agnes Merlet in ihrem Spielfilm "Artemisia - Schule der Sinnlichkeit": Ein Melodram voll berauschender Bilder und erotischer Verzauberung, das als deutsche Fernsehpremiere in der Reihe "Sommernachtsphantasien" zu sehen ist. Rom zu Beginn des 17. Jahrhunderts. Die künstlerisch begabte Artemisia (Valentina Cervi), Tochter des bekannten Malers Orazio Gentileschi (Michel Serrault), arbeitet im Atelier ihres Vaters. Hin und wieder darf sie das Porträt eines reichen Auftraggebers vollenden, aber wonach sie sich am meisten sehnt, bleibt ihr verwehrt: Das Aktstudium des männlichen Körpers ist Frauen in dieser Zeit durch ein päpstliches Dekret verboten. Und auch der Zugang zur Kunstakademie bleibt ihr als Frau verschlossen. Daher nutzt sie die Gelegenheit, als der berühmte florentinische Maler Agostino (Miki Manojlovic) in Rom eintrifft, und verdingt sich als seine Schülerin. Von ihm kann sie etwas lernen, was noch auf keiner Universität gelehrt wird: Das Malen in freier Natur und die Entdeckung der Perspektive.
