Das gewehr über Die Deutsche wochenschau( Visual )

1 edition published in 2012 in German and held by 1 WorldCat member library worldwide

This dvd contains two films produced in Germany during the Nazi era, Die Deutsche Wochenschau and Das Gewehr Uber. The first, Die Deutsche Wochenschau, is a German newsreel which might have played in front of the feature film. The newsreel begins with footage of striking American workers being beaten back by "Roosevelt's policemen". Images of bleeding strikers thrown into a police van, accompany a voice over describing conditions in President Roosevelt's America. Then the newsreel moves to street fighting in German cities as German artillery and infantry fight off encroaching "Bolshevik" tank divisions. We are shown the corpses of several women strewn across a frozen field and told that this is the result of a massacre by "President Roosevelt's troops". Then the newsreel moves to a rally where Goebbels addresses German infantry. Goebbels congratulates one of the youngest members of the brigade, a boy no older than 14 who has received the iron cross. In the feature film Das Gewehr Uber, Paul is a spoiled child from a wealthy family, living the Life of Riley on his father's farm in Australia. The father is concerned, for he intends to leave the farm to his son, but fears that the boy lacks discipline. He decides to send his son together with his buddy Charlie on a trip to Nazi Germany, where he hopes the two boys will grow into responsible citizens. Once the two young men arrive in Germany, they seek out their father's former commanding officer, who encourages them to enlist. As their unit is about to invade Poland, they meet two young women who agree to wait for them back in Germany
