Koloman Moser, 1868-1918 by Koloman Moser( Book )

15 editions published in 2007 in German and English and held by 376 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

As a forerunner of the modern age, Koloman Moser deserves his place among the artists who set the tone in Vienna in and around 1900. He was admired by his contemporaries for his wide-ranging talents, which earned him the nickname "Jack of all trades"; the scope of his artistic work continues to impress to this day. As an illustrator, craftsman, interior designer, and painter, Kolo Moser not only helped to determine the style but also shaped significantly the artistic scene of his time. He was closely linked to the influential artistic institutions of the turn of the last century, as a founding member of the Vienna Secession and a co-founder of the Wiener Werkstätte as well as in his capacity as Professor at the College of Applied Arts in Vienna. His oeuvre is inextricably linked to the content and fortunes of Austrian Art at the end of the Danube Monarchy. This publication marking the exhibition in the Leopold Museum in Vienna contains the results of the latest interdisciplinary research on various aspects of Kolo Moser's work. In addition to his famous masterpieces it presents for the first time a large number of previously unknown artistic works from private and public collections. Recently discovered photographic material from the artist's estate also provides an insight into his private life, which it is impossible to separate from his creative work in so many fields of art. -- from front flap
Nude men : from 1800 to the present day by Nude men( Book )

7 editions published in 2012 in English and held by 254 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

"This exploration includes glimpses into the life-drawing classes of European art academies, representations of men during the time of the French Revolution, "Sturm und Drang" and late Impressionism. It also offers examples of 20th century art. Egon Schiele and Richard Gerstl are the key representatives of radical self-observation in the mirror of the naked self. However, this volume also presents artists such as Jean Cocteau, Antonio Canova, Johann Heinrich Füssli, David Hockney, Ferdinand Hodler, Edvard Munch, Auguste Rodin, Andy Warhol, Nan Goldin and Louise Bourgeois. It contains a variety of essays that examine concepts such as masculinity and the construction of identity, male desire in modern art and the naked man as a motif in advertising."--Publisher's website

1980 stirbt Oskar Kokoschka - fast 94jährig. Wolken : Welt des Flüchtigen by Leopold Museum( Book )

8 editions published in 2013 in German and English and held by 45 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

"Whether cirrus, cumulus, or stratus: endlessly changing and barely tangible, clouds in the sky have always fascinated humans. Since the early 19th century many artists have focused their interest on images of clouds, as can be seen in this richly illustrated volume of masterpieces by such diverse artists as Caspar David Friedrich, John Constable, William Turner, Claude Monet, Paul Cézanne, Vincent van Gogh, Ferdinand Hodler, Gustav Klimt, Emil Nolde, René Magritte, Edward Steichen, and Gerhard Richter. This publication attests to the sheer, endless number of associations that artists from the Romantic era to the present day have connected with the phenomenon of clouds; it spans the arc from the cloud as ornament to 'Cloud Seven, ' from the 'Discovery of Clouds' to artificially manufactured cloud formations, telling of metamorphoses and of "uncanny beauty," and even discovering the "cloud of sound."--Publisher's website
