Elizur's letter dated 1833 mentions a foiled escape attempt by death row prisoners and the visit of the President and the huge parade held for him in Hartford. His 1838 letter concerns household items like carpets, linen and looking glasses that he is shipping to her at her request. The letter from Lucy to her husband was written while she was visiting her family in Hartford and described her trip from Owego to Hartford
