Yoko Ono : one woman show, 1960-1971 by N.Y.) Museum of Modern Art (New York( Book )

6 editions published in 2015 in English and held by 244 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Yoko Ono : One Woman Show, 1960-1971' examines the beginnings of Ono's career, demonstrating her pioneering role in visual art, performance, and music during the 1960s and early 1970s. It begins in 1960, when Ono initiated a performance series with La Monte Young in her New York loft. Over the course of the decade, Ono earned international recognition, staging Cut Piece in Kyoto, Tokyo, New York, and London, and launching with John Lennon her global campaign 'WAR IS OVER ! if you want it'. Ono returned to New York in the early 1970s and organized an unsanctioned 'one woman show' at MoMA. Over forty years later, the Museum presents its first exhibition dedicated exclusively to the artist's work. This accompanying publication features three essays that examine Ono's early years, and five sections organized chronologically to trace the evolution of Ono's artistic practice. Each chapter includes an introduction, artwork descriptions, primary documents, and a selection by the artist of her texts and instruction drawings." -- Publisher's website
Into me/out of me by Klaus Biesenbach( Book )

16 editions published between 2007 and 2009 in German and English and held by 225 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

"Into Me/Out of Me is about the imagined, descriptive and performative acts of passing into, through and out of the human body. This book focuses on the primordial relationship between the internal and the external metabolism (eating, drinking, excreting), reproduction (intercourse, birth), and violence (shooting, impaling, perforation). Into Me/Out of Me brings together explorations and visualizations of these three processes, which deal with the wet and the dry, the inner and the outer surfaces of the body, and the material world. Spanning over 40 years and featuring an international group of more than 130 artists, Into Me/Out of Me employs a wide range of media to illuminate the literal and metaphorical ways that humans interact with each other and material matter. These daily exchanges are presented within the frameworks of natural science, historical and mythological confrontations, ritualistic practices, and self-exploration."--Jacket

Christoph Schlingensief( Book )

4 editions published in 2014 in German and English and held by 60 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Christoph Schlingensief was a filmmaker, theater director, performance artist, author of audio plays, installation artist, musician, opera director, revelator, but first and foremost he was a creator of images. His radical demand for reaction, his uniquely inventive imagery, his almost obsessive overexertion and his challenging demand for similar dedication from anyone involved in his projects secure Schlingensief's exceptional position in the contemporaneous art discourse.0?The exhibition CHRISTOPH SCHLINGENISEF at KW Institute for Contemporary Art in Berlin provides an insight to his comprehensive work. The accompanying extensive publication includes essays and talks that highlight various aspects in Christoph Schlingensief's oeuvre while his fulminating iconography is reflected in an opulent image section.0Exhibition: KW Institute for Contemporary Art, Berlin, Germany (1.12.2013-19.1.2014) / MoMa, NYC, USA (9.3.-31.8.2014)
