Alexandro Jodorowsky's The holy mountain ( Visual )
1 edition published in 2007 in English and held by 211 WorldCat member libraries worldwide
The plot follows a Christ-like character--the Thief--found lying in a dusty street, covered with flies and his own urine until being rescued/resurrected by a partial-limbed dwarf and a gang of naked boys. He then wanders through the city observing the madness of modern life, including a massacre of protesters by riot soldiers photographed by rich tourists and a tribute to the Spanish conquest of Mexico re-enacted by costumed lizards on a scale model of Aztec pyramids. The Thief joins a group of emblematic figures based on the Tarot assembled by the Alchemist to attack the mountaintop fortress of society's rulers, the Immortals. An almost purely visual bit of pop-philosophical fluff, it has been interpreted as a satire on the pretentious artistic community, the dehumanized industrial work force, the lazy bourgeois, the rigid police state, and organized religion--overlaid with the stealthy paternalism common in the '70s counterculture

1931: once upon a time in New York ( Visual )
1 edition published in 2005 in English and held by 4 WorldCat member libraries worldwide
"The year is 1931. Violence is everywhere as gang wars explode across the face of the nation. Al Capone will soon spend ten years in prison, as his empire was cracking up. Hollywood reflected the era: "Little Caesar," "Public Enemy No. 1," and "Scarface." There were others, too. Killers with baby faces. This is the story of one of them."--Title screens. While the title implies a New York setting, the green, leafy, country backgrounds are actually West Virginia--as the story acknowledges. This is a straight-up spaghetti gangster film--probably a big hit at the drive-in, and notable now for featuring a number of very nicely preserved period automobiles. It has all the standard gangster elements: groups of Italian guys cooking and playing cards, a funeral with lots of women in black crying, dames in glittery sequined dresses doing the Charleston, and a lot of gunplay. A lot of rather bloody gunplay. Joe Bob would approve
