Le ride : Phil Keoghan( Visual )

7 editions published between 2011 and 2017 in English and held by 49 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Le Ride follows Phil Keoghan and his friend Ben Cornell as they attempt to recreate the original route of the 1928 Tour de France. Averaging 240 kilometres a day for 26 days, Phil and Ben traverse both the unforgiving mountains of the Pyrenees and the Alps, on original vintage steel racing bikes with no gears and marginal brakes. The documentary takes inspiration from the remarkable true story of Australians Sir Hubert Opperman, Ernie Bainbridge and Percy Osborne, and New Zealander Harry Watson as the first English speaking team to compete in the Tour de France. They arrived after six weeks at sea, under-trained and under-resourced, untested and completely written off by the French media. The 1928 Tour was the toughest in history - a hell on wheels race of attrition. Only 41 finished out of 161 starters yet remarkably three were from the Australasian team. This extraordinary story of achievement against the odds has never been told on film - until now

In the 16th installment of THE AMAZING RACE, eleven teams depart on a 40,000-mile sprint around the world. This season features a first-time visit to the African nation of Seychelles in the Indian Ocean. Teams facing this course include beloved Big Brother couple, Jordan & Jeff; internet sensation and beauty queen, Caite Upton; and cowboy brothers, Jet & Cord. They must all perform amazing acts of agility, stamina, courage, and strength. They race using one banana to lure a 100-year-old tortoise, struggle with the language in China, and navigate an unfamiliar train system in Germany without their teammates then must bungee jump 150-feet through the air. They even have a run-in with a moody cow that inflicts bodily harm to a racer. They soon realize they're in trouble without the support of their teammates. Over a challenging meal, they discuss refocusing and pushing on -- stomachaches and all. All of these challenges are endured for the sake of winning the million dollar prize. Join the journey and watch how a simple children's nursery rhyme holds the final clue. Jack Be Nimble!
