The drawing presents a panoramic view of a nautical festival held in 1782 on the river Seine in Paris in celebration of the birth of the Dauphin Louis-Joseph-Xavier, the second child and first son of King Louis XVI of France and Marie Antoinette of Austria. Shown is a composite panorama of the Seine river with views of the Louvre, the College des Quatre-Nations, the Pont Neuf, and the Monnaie visible in the background (cf. Gruber). A triumphal arch is erected at the intersection of Pont Neuf and Île de la Cité. In the middle of the river, there is a round temple built on a large circular base and decorated with allegorical figures. Numerous small figures populate the foreground. The architectural elements are attributed to Pierre-Louis Moreau-Desproux; the decorative elements and the foreground figures to Jean-Michel Moreau
