Together, Models and Computability and its sister volume Sets and Proofs provide readers with a comprehensive guide to the current state of mathematical logic. All the authors are leaders in their fields and are drawn from the invited speakers at "Logic Colloquium '97" (the major international meeting of the Association of Symbolic Logic). It is expected that the breadth and timeliness of these two volumes will prove an invaluable and unique resource for specialists, postgraduate researchers, and the informed and interested nonspecialist

17 editions published in 1988 in English and Undetermined and held by 52 WorldCat member libraries worldwide
The result of the European Summer Meeting of the Association for Symbolic Logic, this volume gives an overview of the latest developments in most of the major fields of logic being actively pursued today. Important new developments in the applications of logic in computer science are presented. Other areas examined include model theory, set theory, recursion theory, proof theory, and the history of logic. This volume contains the texts of ten of the invited lectures and six of the contributed papers

Unification for nilpotent groups of class 2 by

Abstract: "In this paper we consider unification for theories of nilpotent groups of class 2. We use a unification algorithm for abelian groups constructed by Lankford, Butler, and Brady [5]. The method consists of passing to the quotient by the commutator subgroup (abelianizing), applying their algorithm and lifting the solution to the free nilpotent group of class 2. There are certain unification problems however where this does not work as it stands, and special treatment is required, involving the solutions of a restricted class of quadratic diophantine equations. We also make some remarks about unification and equation solving in nilpotent groups of higher class and relate the work to Martin's result [7] on special pgroups."
