Bishop Coverdale (1488-1569) was a native of the district of Coverdale in Richmondshire, England. He was educated at the Priory of the Augustines at Cambridge. He is considered one of the great leaders of the Reformation. He assisted Tindal in his translation of the New Testament and he completed the translation of the Bible, which was published 4 October 1535
