The logbook of the U.S. Frigate Macedonian details a cruise in the Atlantic Ocean stopping in Montevideo and Rio de Janeiro (Aug. 1827-Oct. 1828). Master was James Biddle; log keeper was Joseph Lanman. It is a daily log that describes wind, weather, location, shipboard occupations, sightings of ships, a man overboard, illnesses, deaths at sea, boarding other ships, and port activities.
