This collection consists of three letters from George M. Troup. In the first letter, written to the Executive Department of the House of Representatives in Milledgeville, Georgia, 1823, Troup gives John A. Cuthbert's fee as additional counsel in the case of the claim interposed by the State to the Africans. The second letter, written again to the Executive Department, describes the need of additional funds to print more copies of A.S. Clayton's Georgia Justice and O.H. Prince's Digest of the Laws of Georgia to supply to county officers. In the third letter, Troup writes to William Coffee Daniell of the appointment of Hamilton Fulton as Chief Engineer of the State.

This series contains several messages and supporting documents from Gov. John Murphy to the Ala. General Assembly. Included are correspondence, reports and accounts. The most detailed messages concern reports of commissioners appointed to run a dividing line between Ala. and Ga. and to adjust unsettled accounts between Ala. and Miss. Other topics discussed include Creek Indian treaties, the location of a branch of the Bank of the U.S. in Mobile, and the Tombeckbee Bank. The series also contains Murphy's comments on a bill concerning land for the State capitol in Tuscaloosa and a copy of the 1825 annual report of the Board of Trustees of the University of Ala.

Communication dated November 15, 1823 from Georgia Governor George M. Troup (1823-1827) to the Georgia legislature pertaining to a legislative act of the state passed on December 23, 1822. This act allows for the sale of territory, in the form of land lots, recently belonging to the Creeks and Cherokees. Troup asks the legislature to clarify its intentions concerning the administration of this act, particularly in regard to fees allowed.
