The album contains eighteen prints, of which seventeen depict architectural decorations and festivities relating to the wedding of the Grand-Duke of Tuscany, Ferdinando I de Medici, to the French princess Christine of Lorraine. A month-long sequence, from April 30 to May 31, 1589, of public and courtly pageantry began with Christine's triumphal entry into Florence, followed by a series of banquets; performances in the Medici theater in the Uffizi; an allegorical-chivalric parade, a tournament, and a mock naval battle at the Pitti Palace; a football game, animal baiting, and street masquerade. The prints are not captioned; nine are signed by Orazio Scarabelli, three are signed by Epifanio d'Alfiano, six are unsigned. All signatures are within the plate mark. The prints are bound randomly, i.e. inconsistently with the sequence of the actual events. They belong to the three groupings mentioned by Saslow: the street arches, the interludes, and the loose grouping of street floats, jousts, mock battles, and processions. There is also an unrelated print that depicts the canonization of St. Elizabeth of Portugal in Rome in 1625.
