in English and held by 1 library worldwide A sketchbook containing 208 coats of arms for British families, plus pages of shield shapes, probably for more coats of arms; a sketch of a classically inspired statue labeled Prudence; watercolor designs with scrolls and leaves; watercolors depicting flowers in a pot, a deer, a spotted cat, swans, and street scenes. As well, there are two designs for trade cards, one for Mitford, Carpenter and Undertaker, and the other for I. Halfpenny, Painter. The initials J.H.appear on another page. The volume also includes notes on Popes Homer and recipes for "Amber" varnish, varnish for panels, and varnish for pictures made of copal. The sketchbook may have belonged to Joseph Halfpenny.
