Button Gwinnett was one of Georgia's three signers of the Declaration of Independence. He was baptized on St. Catherine's Island, Georgia in 1735. He married Ann Bourne in about 1757 and they had three daughters, only one of whom lived beyond infancy. He has no other descendants. He was President of Georgia. After his death his wife and daughter, Elizabeth moved to Charleston
