Fractal geometry and stochastics by Conference on Fractal Geometry and Stochastics( Book )

13 editions published in 1995 in English and Undetermined and held by 225 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Fractal geometry is a new and promising field for researchers from different disciplines such as mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology and medicine. It is used to model complicated natural and technical phenomena. The most convincing models contain an element of randomness so that the combination of fractal geometry and stochastics arises in between these two fields. It contains contributions by outstanding mathematicians and is meant to highlight the principal directions of research in the area. The contributors were the main speakers attending the conference "Fractal Geometry and Stochastics" held at Finsterbergen, Germany, in June 1994. This was the first international conference ever to be held on the topic. The book is addressed to mathematicians and other scientists who are interested in the mathematical theory concerning: Fractal sets and measures Iterated function systems Random fractals Fractals and dynamical systems, and Harmonic analysis on fractals. The reader will be introduced to the most recent results in these subjects. Researchers and graduate students alike will benefit from the clear expositions
Fractal geometry and stochastics II by Christoph Bandt( Book )

15 editions published between 1999 and 2000 in English and held by 178 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

The combination of fractal geometry and stochastic methods can be used to create convincing models in many different areas of science such as biology, chemistry, computer science, mathematics and physics. The present book deals with the mathematical theory needed for this purpose. It contains contributions by outstanding mathematicians and is meant to highlight the principal directions of research in the field. The contributors were the main speakers at the conference Fractal Geometry and Stochastics II held at Greifswald/Koserow, Germany, in August 1998. The book is addressed to mathematicians and scientists who are interested in any of the following topics: fractal dimensions fractal measures and multifractals self-similar and self-affine fractals random fractals stable processes ergodic theory and dynamical systems harmonic analysis and stochastic processes on fractals The readers will be introduced to the most recent results and problems on these subjects and also be treated to an overview of their historical development. Both researchers and graduate students will benefit from the clear expositions
Topology, measures, and fractals by Christoph Bandt( Book )

12 editions published in 1992 in English and held by 147 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Fractal geometry and stochastics III by Christoph Bandt( Book )

11 editions published in 2004 in English and German and held by 132 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Fractal geometry is used to model complicated natural and technical phenomena in various disciplines like physics, biology, finance, and medicine. Since most convincing models contain an element of randomness, stochastics enters the area in a natural way. This book documents the establishment of fractal geometry as a substantial mathematical theory. As in the previous volumes, which appeared in 1998 and 2000, leading experts known for clear exposition were selected as authors. They survey their field of expertise, emphasizing recent developments and open problems. Main topics include multifractal measures, dynamical systems, stochastic processes and random fractals, harmonic analysis on fractals
Fractal geometry and stochastics IV by Christoph Bandt( Book )

15 editions published between 2009 and 2015 in English and held by 90 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Over the last fifteen years fractal geometry has established itself as a substantial mathematical theory in its own right. A collection of survey articles covering many of the most recent developments in fractal geometry, like Schramm-Loewner evolution, fractal scaling limits, exceptional sets for percolation, and heat kernels on fractals
Fractal geometry and stochastics V by Christoph Bandt( Book )

8 editions published in 2015 in English and held by 25 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

This book brings together leading contributions from the fifth conference on Fractal Geometry and Stochastics held in Tabarz, Germany, in March 2014. The book is divided into five sections covering different facets of this fast developing area: geometric measure theory, self-similar fractals and recurrent structures, analysis and algebra on fractals, multifractal theory, and random constructions. There are state-of-the-art surveys as well as papers highlighting more specific recent advances. The authors are world-experts who present their topics comprehensibly and attractively. The book provides an accessible gateway to the subject for newcomers as well as a reference for recent developments for specialists. Authors include: Krzysztof Barański, Julien Barral, Kenneth Falconer, De-Jun Feng, Peter J. Grabner, Rostislav Grigorchuk, Michael Hinz, Stéphane Jaffard, Maarit Järvenpää, Antti Käenmäki, Marc Kesseböhmer, Michel Lapidus, Klaus Mecke, Mark Pollicott, Michał Rams, Pablo Shmerkin, and András Telcs
Fractals, wavelets, and their applications : contributions from the international conference and workshop on fractals and wavelets by Christoph Bandt( Book )

10 editions published between 2014 and 2016 in English and held by 7 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Fractals and wavelets are emerging areas of mathematics with many common factors which can be used to develop new technologies. This volume contains the selected contributions from the lectures and plenary and invited talks given at the International Workshop and Conference on Fractals and Wavelets held at Rajagiri School of Engineering and Technology, India from November 9-12, 2013. Written by experts, the contributions hope to inspire and motivate researchers working in this area. They provide more insight into the areas of fractals, self similarity, iterated function systems, wavelets and the applications of both fractals and wavelets. This volume will be useful for the beginners as well as experts in the fields of fractals and wavelets
