Stabat Mater by Giovanni Battista Pergolesi( Recording )

19 editions published between 1996 and 2008 in 4 languages and held by 493 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Opening the disc is Vivaldi's brief Sonata al Santo Sepolcro, an instrumental work probably intended for inclusion in an Easter church service. This is followed by a Stabat Mater proper, also by Vivaldi. Vivaldi used just the first ten verses of the text, creating one of the most sombre of all settings, here performed by the Canadian ensemble Theatre of Early Music and its director, counter-tenor Daniel Taylor, who in Bach is joined by Emma Kirkby, taking on the soprano part
Der Freischutz by Carl Maria von Weber( )

20 editions published between 1996 and 2016 in 3 languages and held by 410 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Wagner said this early-Romantic gem was the most German of German operas. Its irresistible mix of colorful folklore, the spooky supernatural, a tender romance, and the passionate struggle between good and evil are all captured in Weber's tuneful and dramatic score. The cast in this rare U.S. performance is sensational: Sándor Kónya as our hero, the forester Max, who must win a shooting contest in order to marry his beloved Agathe (the ravishing Pilar Lorengar), despite the dark plotting of Caspar (Gerd Feldhoff)
