The papers are organized chronologically and consist of military records and correspondence. Badger was quartermaster of the Army's 6th Infantry stationed at Standing Rock and Fort Rice (DT) and the military records document his duties as quartermaster. These records include requisitions, receipt rolls, records of deserted soldiers, clothing return forms and miscellaneous forms. The personal correspondence in the collection includes discussions of political rivalries in New Hampshire and letters from his son William C. Badger who worked in the meat packing and selling business in Chicago
