Cult of the Cubicles
by George Kuchar
(
Visual
)
2 editions published in 2007 in English and held by 2 libraries worldwide "George Kuchar was one of the first media artists to embrace the video camcorder and remains one of its most prolific advocates. Editing 'in camera,' Kuchar champions a 'fast and dirty' aesthetic that betrays little interest in perfection. Since he is almost always the star of his tapes as well as our point of reference (i.e., he also runs the camera), his work constitutes a fascinating convergence of autobiography, biography and fiction. In Cult of the Cubicles, George Kuchar returns to New York and tracks down some old high school chums: 'We meet other people too and the city is always there making noises of some sort. Some of the people are commercial artists and some are actors. They all have something to say and to add to the noise of the great city.'"--thekitchen.org.

Secrets of the shadow world pts. 1-3
(
Visual
)
2 editions published in 1999 in English and held by 1 library worldwide A compilation of underground filmmaker George Kuchar's 'crazed, revved-up and stripped down melodramas ... perverse, funny but strangely poignant'. Showcasing the arcane and mundane. Poised somewhere between home movie and epic spectacular, Secrets of the Shadow World is George Kuchar's three-part exploration of the supernatural and the uncanny. Although Kuchar, who appears in the film both as himself and as a cross-dressing alien, is ostensibly on a quest to make a "UFO movie," the film's true subject might be the range of experts, fellow filmmakers, and old friends that Kuchar encounters along the way. Secrets of the Shadow World blends camp and melodrama, vintage-film sensibility and digital wizardry, into a deeply subversive, underground tour de force that defies easy explanation or categorization.
