Most of the correspondence is directed to Henry Tazewell and Littleton Waller Tazewell. These records contain a typescript booklet with copies of letters from 1772-1866, including papers on the trial of Aaron Burr, letters of Aaron Burr and letters from prominent public figures. Two volumes are diaries of John N. Tazewell, 19 September 1847 - 24 September 1849 and 20 September 1848 - 1 January 1850.
