One of the more unusual items in this collection is a bill regarding a slave case in court. The owner, a New Jersey resident, thought he was purchasing a healthy slave when in fact the man was blind and had since had liver trouble. Other items include a Seymour family history, letters between Thomas Seymour and his sons David and Henry, a letter from Horatio Seymour to Henry Seymour, and a petition to Thomas H. Seymour, son of Henry and Jane Ellery Seymour, who was serving as Minister to Russia
