The deposit books consist of a record of all financial income of the Bank which, during the early development of the Branch Banks, was recorded daily, and upon the liquidation of the Bank and its Branches the deposits were recorded monthly. The financial income that is listed, with the amount deposited, includes bills of exchange, extended business bills, interest received, certificate accounts, expenses and mortgages, income received on the sale of the 16th section of land, and commission accounts. The deposit books also list the name of the depositors and the amount they are depositing. Also included are the records of the deposits that were made by the other Branch Banks and the State Treasurer, and if the deposit was made by cash, by warrant, by package of notes of the State Bank and its Branches, or by certificates of deposit. Usually the name of the depositor is listed below the name of the State or Branch Bank. Upon the liquidation of the Bank, the deposit books record the amount of partial payments, notes discounted, current expenses, and funds for bank attorneys. The amount is totaled at the end of each day or month

Also included is a list of the amount received from private banks, from the State Bank and its Branches, from the railroad, and in foreign currency. The amount of specie within the Bank (in the bank's vault), the amount of specie in circulation and the amount from the checks paid and received that day are also recorded and totaled. Also recorded is the amount in gold, silver or counterfeits of the Branch Bank, but this information is not always included. This record functions as a form of balance sheet because the amount over or short is listed. This series is also referred to as tellers daily statements

This series seems to serve as a form of recapitulation of the financial condition of the Branch Bank from 1851 Nov. 1 to 1853 Nov. 1. The first section of this volume consists of lists of collections made in each county of good, bad, or doubtful debts. Included after the lists of collections is a statement showing the amount of cash collected on each classification of debt as reported by Commissioner Francis S. Lyon in his semi-annual reports to the Governor. Also included is a balance sheet of current expenses, record of amount paid to commissioners after their collection on notes owed to the Branch Bank, a list of sales of real estate, a report of the financial condition of the Branch Bank, and a report by the commissioners to settle the affairs of the State Bank and its Branches. This series serves as a useful research tool in the study of the liquidation process of the State Bank and its Branches
