N0ught to 5ive is a series of ten programmes dealing with specific ages and stages of this important period of life. The programme's philosophy is one of positive parenting and is based on recent research to come out of the Children's Issue Centre, University of Otago, and the Ministry of Social Development's SKIP (Strategies with Kids, Information for Parents) programme. SKIP is working with Barnardos to take this philosophy to parents. The 10 episodes run in consecutive order from brand new baby through to almost-5-year-olds who are ready for school. Each episode features two families sharing their stories about everyday life. Includes regular segment from SPARC's Active Movement Advisor Gill Connell

Be prepared for a roller-coaster ride, as easy-going and laid-back toddlers start to test the limits. This is the stage of growing independence and what you can expect from one to two year olds. Having mastered walking, children at this stage are starting to run and climb and are becoming more interested in others. They often like helping with "real" jobs and can follow simple instructions. Language is developing rapidly as they experiment with more and more words. And they want everything here and now, so bring on the tantrums. These two episodes look at common challenges for this age group- battles with food, brushing teeth, sleeping, and dealing with undesirable behaviour by putting boundaries and structure in place
