Ten letters from Christensen, who adopted the English name Samuel Norris. The first nine letters (1850-1855) are in Danish, with typed English translations; they are written from Christensen's farm, Norris Rancho, in Sacramento City, Calif., to his brothers Hans and Christen (with one letter to his nephew, Marcus) in Denmark. The letters discuss family news and health, the quality of life in Calif., and deliberations as to how to send money to Denmark. The tenth letter, dated July 25, 1868 and written from the Hotel Royal, is addressed to Madame M.N. Gotthilf, wife of Marcus. The letter is written in English, and thanks her for her hospitality during a visit he made while Marcus was away. Much of the letter is concerned with Christensen's failing health.
