Joseph Truman was born in Nottinghamshire, England, and married in England. He and his wife were living at New London, Connecticut, by 1666. They were the parents of five children. He died in 1697 at New London. Descendants lived in Connecticut, Rhode Island, New York, and elsewhere. Descendants spelled their surname Treman, Tremaine, Truman, and other varient spellings
