Eight and a half Otto e mezzo by Federico Fellini( Visual )

3 editions published between 1962 and 1963 in English and held by 3 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

In an attempt to escape his producers and his wife, Guido a successful Italian film director moves into a spa hoping to begin work on his next film project. Fellini's surreal, semi-autobiographical masterpiece takes us inside the insecurities and heightened reality of the creative mind (Fellini's). The marvelous camerawork by Gianni di Venanzo captures the social hierarchies of the Italian film industry; celebrities and journalists swirl around the distracted director while he tries to escape the pressures of his next film project by retreating into his childhood memories. Ambitious starlets float through the hallways of the luxurious Italian resort hoping to catch Guido's eye as he flees from room to room trying to avoid his wife and his mistress. Dreams and fantasies constantly intrude on the director's waking moments, threatening to derail the film's progress. The title derives from the fact that in 1962, Fellini had completed eight and a half films when he embarked on his cinematic masterpiece 8 1/2

1 edition published in 2014 in Italian and held by 2 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

"The biggest hit from the most popular Italian filmmaker of all time, "La dolce vita" rocketed Federico Fellini to international mainstream success-ironically, by offering a damning critique of the culture of stardom. A look at the darkness beneath the seductive lifestyles of Rome's rich and glamorous, the film follows a notorious celebrity journalist (a sublimely cool Marcello Mastroianni) during a hectic week spent on the peripheries of the spotlight. This mordant picture was an incisive commentary on the deepening decadence of contemporary Europe, and it provided a prescient glimpse of just how gossip- and fame-obsessed our society would become." 1 edition published in 2007 in Italian and held by 1 WorldCat member library worldwide
