Bacon, the Film( Visual )

4 editions published between 2001 and 2006 in English and French and held by 17 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Several years ago, large-scale hog producers and their political allies in Quebec decided to branch out into international markets. But bacon, like everything else, has its price. "Bacon, the Film" asks whether we have properly measured the social and environmental impacts of this proliferation of huge hog operations. Large amounts of liquid hog manure are spread over the land each year. The soil is already showing signs of sterility. Rivers are contaminated. Water, the very symbol of life, has itself become a hazard in some communities. The situation could be spinning out of control. Abandoned by the state, citizens' groups are making their voices heard and taking back democracy. An unexpected grain of sand in a machine well oiled by neo-liberal dogma, they are fighting to keep society on a human scale

Starting from a village in Calabria, the director recounts their saga and presents a chapter from the history of his own community"--Container
Doing time( Visual )

Bordeaux Jail is a men's prison in Montreal. For some inmates, jail acts as a catalyst that produces an urgent need to speak out, to express thoughts and feeling repressed or held back too long. Some of the men have become a part of Souverains anonymous, a unique radio show broadcast once a week on community radio stations in Quebec, that can be heard throughout Canada and France. Though they may be prisoners of the past, in front of the microphone the men discover the power of their own voices. Their bodies may be imprisoned but their words are free

Sociétés sous influence by Carmen Garcia( Visual )

1 edition published in 1997 in French and held by 1 WorldCat member library worldwide

3 editions published between 2000 and 2013 in French and held by 1 WorldCat member library worldwide

1 edition published in 2000 in French and held by 1 WorldCat member library worldwide
