The Tashiro is a wealthy family with the father Tamakichi, the mother Midori and three children: the first son is Yūkichi, who shows excellence in anything, the second son Shinji pretends to be delinquent to hide his honest feeling, and the little sister Kumiko is slightly lameness due to an injury in her childhood. Takako and Kumiko become good friends. Takako is surprised that Kumiko is secretly in love with a jazz singer Tamio, who in fact lives in the same apartment with his mother Tomiko. To make it more complex, Tomiko was a mistress of Kumiko's father Tamakichi and the real mother of Shinji

Later on, his mother dies, he was informed that his vagrant father had used up his savings to pay for a part of his debts. Despite the difficulties, Goichi is determined to work hard to repay the debt, and eventually succeed
