Sweetie by Jane Campion ( Visual )
1 edition published in 2003 in English and held by 7 WorldCat member libraries worldwide
As Tolstoy asserted, every unhappy family is unhappy in its own way. This unhappy family has never confronted its unhappiness: Sweetie, so called since childhood, the apple of her father Bob's eye and the bane of her mother Flo's smothered existence. Her sister Kay is shy, superstitious, and sexually repressed where Sweetie is loud, slovenly, and quite possibly mentally ill. The family has managed to lead relatively normal lives by denying their bizarre family reality. Sweetie has terrorized her family for years, but an unexpected tragedy is about to loosen her spoiled brat grip on their psyches

Un ange à ma table by Jane Campion ( Visual )
1 edition published in 2003 in English and held by 2 WorldCat member libraries worldwide
An Angel at my table a trilogy based on the autobiographies of Janet Frame ( Visual )
in English and held by 2 WorldCat member libraries worldwide
Based on the 3 volumes of Janet Frame's autobiography. The first part of the film deals with her childhood in Oamaru, NZ, in the 1930s, when she showed the first symptoms of emotional insecurity that was to afflict her in later life. Part two is largely an account of her experiences in an institution to which she was committed after being, wrongly, diagnosed as schizophrenic. Part 3 deals with her life in London and Spain where she lived on a literary scholarship before returning, with a new confidence and hope, to New Zealand

Un angelo alla mia tavola ( Visual )
1 edition published in 2002 in Italian and held by 1 WorldCat member library worldwide

" ... an extraordinarily moving celebration of the life of Janet Frame, New Zealand's most distinguished author, based on her autobiographical trilogy. The film follows Janet through her poor childhood in the Depression and her growing fascination with literature; her painfully shy student days and subsequent treatment for misdiagnosed schizophrenia; and finally in her travels to Europe where she samples Bohemian life and achieves international success as a writer." cover box note
