Hiroshima and Nagasaki DVD World War II Atomic Nuclear (1945)On August 6, 1945, an American B-29 bomber named the Enola Gay left the island of Tinian for Hiroshima, Japan carrying the uranium 235 gun-type bomb, named Little Boy. The atomic bomb exploded at 8:16 a.m., in an instant 80,000 to 140,000 people were killed and 100,000 more were seriously injured. Three days later, another American B-29 bomber, Bock's Car, left Tinian carrying Fat Man, a plutonium implosion-type bomb. With the primary target unavailable, the secondary target, the Mitsubishi Torpedo Plant at Nagasaki was chosen. he bomb exploded at 11:02 a.m. over the narrow Urakami Valley northwest of downtown Nagasaki. Of the 286,000 people living in Nagasaki at the time of the blast, 74,000 people were killed and another 75,000 sustained severe injuries

Par une belle journée d'été, Tomoko, une fillette de 12 ans, se rend dans la ville d'Hiroshima. Son professeur lui a en effet demandé de faire un exposé sur l'événement terrible qui s'est produit dans cette ville. Munie d'un petit carnet dans lequel elle prend des notes, elle commence ses recherches au musée de la paix. Elle y découvre alors la statue de bronze dédiée aux enfants. Cette statue représente un oiseau, une grue, accompagnée d'une fillette. Tomoko est émerveillée par la multitude d'oiseaux multicolores réalisés en papier par des enfants du monde entier et déposés autour de la statue. Soudain, un oiseau de papier scintille, s'illumine et dans un éclat de lumière, la petite fille de la statue retrouve la vie sous les yeux ravis de Tomoko. Cette petite fille mystérieuse, Sadako, raconte alors à Tomoko son histoire, celle d'une enfant à Hiroshima après la guerre

Soudain, un oiseau de papier déposé près du monument se met à scintiller et dans un éclat de lumière, Sadako, la petite fille de la statue, s'anime sous les yeux émerveillés de Tomoko.
