A parallel theorem prover in KL1 and its application to program synthesis by Ryuzo Hasegawa ( Book )
2 editions published in 1990 in English and held by 5 WorldCat member libraries worldwide
We then present a formal system for program synthesis using the MGTP prover. The sorting program is taken as an example. The program specification is expressed as a formula. Subprograms can be used in the synthesized program if the corresponding lemmas are provided to the prover. The program extraction mechanism is based on constructive logic. The proof trace obtained from the prover is translated to an LF (Edinburgh Logical Framework) proof term and a program can be extracted from this proof term."
Program synthesis by a model generation theorem prover by Masayuki Fujita ( Book )
2 editions published in 1991 in English and held by 5 WorldCat member libraries worldwide
Abstract: "The combination of theorem provers and program synthesis, that can obviously provide us of automated programming, has been left out of consideration because of the theoretical darkness how to relate proofs obtained by the resolution based provers to the executable programs. We here propose a new approach to this goal with using a clear framework of program extraction, which is based on the constructive mathematics. The basic principle of this framework is the Realizability Interpretation, which allows us to relate programs with proofs. Realizability Interpretation can be a mathematical basis of building a formal program extraction system from proofs obtained by a wide variety of first-order provers
Lazy model generation for implementing efficient theorem provers by Ryuzo Hasegawa ( Book )
2 editions published in 1992 in English and held by 5 WorldCat member libraries worldwide
Abstract: "This paper presents a new method called lazy model generation for implementing efficient theorem provers. The tasks of theorem proving based on model generation are the generation and testing of atoms that will be members of a model. The generation process tends to fall into combinatorial explosion which makes it difficult to obtain proofs. Lazy model generation is a method aimed at avoiding an over generation of atoms that are irrelevant and unnecessary for obtaining proofs. In fact, without serious consideration of laziness in producing and retaining information of any kind, theorem proving for hard problems would never succeed with a [sic] limited computational resources
A model generation theorem prover in KL1 : using a ramified- stack algorithm by Hiroshi Fujita ( Book )
2 editions published in 1990 in English and held by 5 WorldCat member libraries worldwide
Experimental results show that an MGTP prover with RAMS can attain orders of magnitude speedup over the naive one without RAMS, and can achieve good performance for non-Horn problems on a non-shared memory multiprocessor, Multi-PSI."

Embedding negation as failure into a model generation theorem prover by K Inoue ( Book )
2 editions published in 1991 in English and held by 5 WorldCat member libraries worldwide
Abstract: "Here, for the first time, we give an implementation which computes answer sets of every class of logic program and deductive database. The proposal is based on bottom-up, incremental, backtrack-free computation of the minimal models of positive disjunctive programs, together with integrity constraints over beliefs and disbeliefs. The procedure has been implemented on top of a model generation theorem prover (MGTP) on a distributed-memory multiprocessor machine (Multi-PSI), and is currently being applied to a legal reasoning system developed at ICOT."

Lazy model generation for improving the efficiency of forward reasoning theorem provers by Ryuzo Hasegawa ( Book )
2 editions published in 1992 in English and held by 4 WorldCat member libraries worldwide
Abstract: "This paper presents several algorithms for implementing efficient theorem provers based on lazy model generation. The tasks of the model generation based prover are the generation and testing of atoms which are to be the elements of a model for the given theorem. A problem with this method is explosion in the number of generated atoms and in the computational cost in time and space consumed by the generation processes. The lazy model generation method avoids generating unnecessary atoms that are irrelevant to obtaining proofs. Indeed, no matter what calculus a prover may take, any theorem which inherently has a large search space cannot be solved with the limited resources available under normal circumstances, unless the generation and retention of information is carefully managed. The lazy model generation method provides flexible control for efficient use of resources in simple manner, thereby decreasing the time and space complexity of some algorithms by several orders of magnitude."

Structural analysis of the set of constraints for constraint logic programs by Yasuo Nagai ( Book )
1 edition published in 1991 in English and held by 1 WorldCat member library worldwide
Furthermore, to efficiently process constraints using the CAL language on applications using the Buchberger algorithm, it is necessary to construct as simple a Gröbner base as possible. This paper describes a program analysis method to improve the efficiency of CLP program execution by introducing this graph-theoretic approach, while considering the active researches of program analysis of logic programming. We consider program analysis methods for the CAL language and apply this method to some examples including non-linear constraints. The results show that the proposed method is effective for problems where the algebraic structure of the set of constraints is sparse."
