Summary: Based on Russian author Leo Tolstoy's novel, Resurrection is about Katusha Maslova, an orphan who's been taken in to work as a maid in the house of Prince Dmitri Nekhlyudov's two aunts. During one of his visits, Dmitri seduces Katusha who ends up giving birth to a child unbeknown to Dmitri. She is kicked out of the house and resorts to prostitution to make ends meet. While working as a prostitute, Katusha is unjustly accused of murdering a client with the intent to steal from him. Fate would have it that Dmitri finds himself on the jury that sentences her to hard labour in Siberia. Screened in two parts. Offair, SBS, 183 mins. DVD
