The collection comprises two letters sent and one received. Lee returns the proof of his picture to an unnamed publisher in London. Considering "the beautiful manner in which Goodall [Edward?] has prepared his part," he is sure that "the plate will be attractive." Lee's second letter and the one received from Hall are part of an ongoing humorous poetry contest about a charming young lady. Hall's letter is a 36 verse poem, while Lee's is short. The artist explains in a note that he has just returned to town (1854 Feb. 17).
