Description: This is a list of recommended books for aspiring writers. This list is based on the Put It in Writing @ your library™ Resource Guide, originally compiled in 2002, that resided on the American Library Association (ALA) web site at http://cs.ala.org/@yourlibrary/putitinwriting/bibliography.cfm. That list, in turn, along with some title adds and edition updates, was compiled with assistance from Booklist, American Libraries, Library Journal, the ALA Library, ALA Public Programs Office, and Susan Brynteson, Director of Libraries for the University of Delaware, a member of the board of Yaddo. The list is not meant to be exhaustive, but rather a starting point for new writers. Libraries are encouraged to adapt and edit the list to fit their collections. Starred items [*] are core purchases for all collections as recommended by Library Journal.
