His little book has one of the best graphic descriptions of the stage ride from Santa Fe to the end of the railroad at Las Animas, Colorado. There is much on New Mexico including the observation: "I cannot begin to catalogue all the vices of Santa Fe, for it is probably the fastest little city in the world."
