The Aaron Copland Oral History consists of extensive, in-depth interviews with Aaron Copland conducted by Vivian Perlis in 1975 and 1976, as well as secondary source material. The interviews form the basis of the two-volume autobiography co-authored by Copland and Perlis: Copland: 1900 through 1942 (New York: St. Martin's/Marek, 1984), and Copland Since 1943 (New York: St. Martin's Press, 1989). Secondary source material consists of 65 brief interviews with other composers, conductors, choreographers, family members, and business associates.
