Kingsley used the volume to document money owed to him for a variety of activities, including shearing sheep, hoeing, work in a mill, drawing loads of wood, plowing gardens, setting spokes, rimming cart wheels, and drawing hay. Throughout the volume references are made to farm produce, livestock, and various agricultural activities.
