Abstract:

Program 1 presents a teacher's and a parent's experience with attention deficit disordered children, a brief history of the disorder along with a description of the characteristics of ADD. Program 2 discusses behavioral interventions, including regular classroom accommodations, using behavioral contracting and earning tokens for rewards to effect behavioral change. Program 3 presents medical issues of ADD including medications, the effects of stimulants and related legal issues. Program 4 discusses parenting strategies such as a team approach to the problem of ADD with parents, teachers, doctors, the student and others, collaborative partnerships between parents, physicians and educators as well as strategies to manage behavior problems at home. Each program ends with a panel answering some frequently asked questions about ADD.
