Part of a series of 12 programs that explore major theories of child therapy by providing interviews with expert therapists and unstaged counseling sessions with therapists and clients. This segment explores techniques of Adlerian play therapy with Terry Kottman. Kottman describes the technique of play therapy as she uses it with child clients. Children use toys and playing as a means of communicating with the therapist, including family members in counseling sessions. Based on Adler's theory which says that the family is a part of the individual's psychology.
