Abstract:

Anthropological field experiences for African American undergraduates can introduce the students to anthropology and stimulate their interest in the discipline. This is important since relatively few African American students pursue anthropology as a major course of study. Field experiences can also facilitate an understanding of activism, action research, and the uses of these concepts in addressing African American community issues.
