A unique title among African natural history journals
African Invertebrates...
African Invertebrates is one of leading peer-reviewed African journals and covers the taxonomy, systematics, biogeography, biology, ecology, conservation and palaeontology of Afrotropical invertebrates, whether terrestrial, freshwater or marine. The journal is published two times per year and is indexed in BIOSIS Previews, Zoological Record and GeoRef. African Invertebrates looks like a recognised international vehicle for all aspects of invertebrate studies on the African continent, and has a more than one century-long history of excellence in broadcasting scientific achievements to researchers around the world. At least a half of the authorship in African Invertebrates is from outside of Africa, which reflects a truly international nature of the journal. What is especially nice about this journal is that African Invertebrates occupies a rather unique niche among other scholarly journals in the field: (1) it accepts articles on all Afrotropical invertebrates (from unicellular to most complex organisms); (2) it doesn't require deposition of studied material in a particular institution; (3) it accepts long taxonomic revisionary works that cannot be normally published elsewhere, it also review papers, smaller contributions, and book reviews; (4) authors are not currently charged for publication of their contributions, except for colour images, but the latter is very inexpensive compared to most western journals; (5) articles are published online before the print version.
