Abstract:

An Australian mining magnate persuades a reluctant Poirot to investigate his daughter's latest suitor, a French count who may be another gold digger. As Poirot and Hastings observe, the couple meet for tea and the count shows the woman some bearer bonds he claimes to be carrying for his new employer, the Bank of Paris. After a fateful train trip, the case becomes a murder mystery and the count a prime suspect. A paperboy's account and Ms. Lemon's filing system give Poirot the final clues he needs to finger the killer.
