In this work, the author describes the times in which Alcuin lived, both in Anglo-Saxon England and on the continent of Europe. The author also covers Alcuin's work as head of the School of York, as head of the Palace School of Charlemagne, and as abbot of the Monastery and School of Tours; his revision of the text of the Liturgy and of the Bible; his various writings on education and on doctrine; his connection with the famous Caroline script; and his part in various secular and ecclesiastical movements.
